comics college
Before opening Books With Pictures Eugene, owner Andrea Gilroy was an educator in both classroom and public settings. Education is really important to the Books With Pictures team, so we love getting to dig in deep stuff: the history of comics, how comics work, and what makes comics great. Every month, on the first Wednesday evening, we host "Comics College," a free talk about the history and appreciation of comics art!

July's Talk
One of Andrea's chapters of her dissertation was dedicated to examining Greg Rucka and J. H. Williams III's Batwoman: Elegy through the lens of queer theory. To celebrate Pride Month and the new release of the DC Compact edition of Batwoman: Elegy, Andrea will discuss superheroes, identity, and queer theory!
